Our Story

From the Heart of Kabul to the Heart of Fremont

In the vibrant streets of 1970s Kabul, two young, ambitious women, Obaida and Zarmina, crossed paths at Kabul University's School of Law. United by their dreams and aspirations, they envisioned a future filled with success and purpose. However, life had its own plans, and amidst the turmoil of war, they found themselves on a journey of resilience and rebirth.

After escaping the uncertainties back home and rebuilding their lives while raising their families, the unstoppable spirit of these two women did not wane. Thirty years later, their paths intertwined once more, this time fueled by a shared passion and a renewed sense of ambition. In 2005, Obaida and Zarmina breathed new life into Century House and Gardens, a then-dormant event center nestled in the heart of Fremont, CA.

The Afghan culinary scene in the Bay Area underwent a profound change with their arrival. Their authentic flavors and mouthwatering recipes brought people from all walks of life together, turning their dishes into a community favorite. This culinary excellence, combined with their love and perseverance, not only enriched the local food culture but also became a powerful symbol of unity and cultural celebration. Their impact continues to resonate, fostering togetherness through the joy of shared meals.

Today, Obaida's vision and spirit live on through Zarmina and her daughters, together embodying the same ambition and passion that started it all. Century Catering and Events stands as a testament to their journey, offering generations of authentic flavor, unrivaled hospitality, and endless reasons to gather.
